Julie Oscherwitz Grant, LCSW is a clinical social worker and writer living and working in the north suburbs of Chicago. She has a bachelor of arts degree in print journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a masters in social service administration from the University of Chicago. After working as a reporter at a community newspaper for three years, she studied to become a psychotherapist and has maintained a private practice for thirty years. She sees individuals and couples of all ages, whose issues include but are not limited to relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, grief, and managing life transitions. She emphasizes the primacy of the therapeutic relationship as a tool for self-understanding, improving communication,identifying patients’ unique needs and helping them achieve their goals and lead more authentic lives. At the same time, she is rekindling her love of writing and is availing herself of the opportunity during the pandemic to explore her experiences and observations of present-day life using prose, poetry and a blog as her mediums of expression. She is a member of IAPSP and frequently attends annual conferences.
