Doris Brothers, Ph.D. is a cofounder and faculty member of The Training and Research in Intersubjective Self Psychology Foundation (TRISP) in New York City. She is co-editor with Roger Frie of Psychoanalysis, Self and Context. She serves on the executive and advisory boards of IAPSP. Her presentations at many IAPSP conference include numerous original papers, discussions, pre-conference workshops and two plenary sessions. Her publications include journal articles and chapters in books on such topics as trauma, trust, gender, uncertainty and political activism. She has written three books: The Shattered Self: A Psychoanalytic Study of Trauma (1988, The Analytic Press), which was co-authored with Richard Ulman; Falling Backwards: An Exploration of Trust and Self Experience (1995, Norton); and, most recently, Toward a Psychology of Uncertainty: Trauma-Centered Psychoanalysis (2008, The Analytic Press). Her latest writing project is with Koichi Togashi on on a book tentatively titled, Psychoanalytic Narratives for a Traumatized World. She is a psychologist/psychoanalyst with a private practice on the upper west side of Manhattan

Koichi Togashi, Ph.D., L.P. is a certified clinical psychologist and a licensed psychologist in Japan; a licensed psychoanalyst in the State of New York; and a certified psychoanalyst at the National Association for Advancement of Psychoanalysis (NAAP), New York. He practices psychoanalysis in Kobe and Hiroshima. He is a member of the faculty, and training & supervising analyst at the Training and Research in Intersubjective Self Psychology Foundation (TRISP), a professor at Konan University, Kobe, Japan, and a mentor of the Taiwan Self Psychology Study Group. He is a member of the Council of the International Association of Psychoanalytic Self Psychology, and an international editor of Psychoanalysis, Self and Context. He is also a member of the Executive Board of the Japan Psycho-Analytical Association, and an editor of The Japanese Journal of Psycho-Analysis. He has published numerous books and articles in Intersubjectivity and Contemporary Self Psychology in the US, Japan, and Taiwan.
His new book, “The Psychoanalytic Zero: A Decolonizing Study of Therapeutic Dialogues” is forthcoming from Routledge.

Denise Davis, L.C.S.W. is in private practice in Highland Park, IL where she treats children, adolescents, adults and couples, supervises clinicians and holds a study group. She is an instructor in The University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration’s Professional Development Program and Advanced Psychodynamic Fellowship in Clinical Practice and also presented at the Illinois Society for Clinical Social Work. She is a member of the Midwest Self Psychology Study Group, the co-chair of International Association for Psychoanalytic Self Psychology’s (IAPSP) Child and Adolescent Initiative, a member of IAPSP’s Advisory Board and the IAPSP Council. She has presented at IAPSP Conferences on brief psychotherapy, trauma and boundaries. She has been a discussant and moderator for IAPSP online journal clubs and writes for IAPSP’s eForum. She is the author of Moments of Meeting: A Self Psychological Approach published in the International Journal of Psychoanalytic Self Psychology 2015, the author of a chapter in Moments of Meeting in Psychoanalysis: Interaction and Change in the Therapeutic Encounter (Routledge Relational Perspective Series 2017) and Bounded Openness: A Secure Base for Expansion and Creativity to be published in Psychoanalysis, Self and Context in 2018.
