46th Annual IAPSP International Conference – Pasadena, California
CALL FOR PAPER, PANEL AND PRE-CONFERENCE PROPOSALS
Dear IAPSP Members,
The 2025 conference planning committee is delighted to announce IAPSP’s 2025 global conference, Mind-ing Our Gaps: Cultivating Vulnerability and Presence in the Face of Otherness to be held in Pasadena, California from Thursday October 16th through Sunday October 19th, 2025. We encourage you to join us in Pasadena but will provide live streaming and recording of the plenary sessions and some other program selections for those unable to attend in person.
In an era of socio-political divides, where rage and fragmentation have decentered curiosity, empathy and dialogue, we face unprecedented challenges in understanding each other. The 2025 IAPSP Conference, “Mind-ing Our Gaps: Cultivating Vulnerability and Presence in the Face of Otherness,” invites you to lean into the tensions and uncertainties that characterize our contemporary moment.
We seek bold contributions that can deepen our understanding in an increasingly polarized world. We welcome submissions that explore clinical work transcending ideological divides, fresh theoretical perspectives on “us versus them” dynamics, and innovative approaches to engaging with patients whose worldviews challenge our own. Of particular interest are papers applying our theories to urgent contemporary issues: geopolitical conflicts, treatment of marginalized groups, and the environmental crisis.
We particularly welcome submissions that examine theoretical blind spots and push the boundaries of our thinking. Papers may be submitted individually or as paired presentations, fostering deeper dialogue and collaboration. Selected individual papers may be matched with a discussant or complementary presentation to enrich the conversation. Join us in exploring how vulnerability and presence can transform our understanding of otherness, both in and beyond the consulting room.
