Wiener Kreis für Psychoanalyse und Selbstpsychologie (Vienna Circle for Psychoanalysis and Self Psychology) (VCPSP): Vienna, Austria

The Vienna Circle for Psychoanalysis and Self Psychology was founded in 1987 by Erwin Bartosch in the effort to support and advance contemporary psychoanalysis and to integrate Heinz Kohut’s paradigm of Self Psychology into the training of psychotherapists and psychoanalysts. 1995 the Vienne Circle became the first state recognized training institute for Self Psychology in Europe. As a psychoanalytic training institute the Vienna Circle for Psychoanalysis and Self Psychology conceptualizes and provides psychoanalytic training for physicians, psychologists, social workers, educators and teachers to become psychotherapists and psychoanalysts offering treatment for children and adolescents or adults (or both). Furthermore, members of the Vienna Circle teach in the Master Studies Program at the University of Vienna in the Dpt. of Education in collaboration with the Austrian Association for Individual Psychology (A. Adler). In addition, the Vienna Circle cooperates with other institutions which provide mental health services – and members of the Vienna Circle work i.e. as supervisors and lecturers for physicians, counseling centers, local agencies supporting families with disabled newborns, and the training of personnel of correctional and a variety of educational facilities.
